At this afternoon's meeting with Studio Architecture, we were excited to receive the first set of construction documents. There will continue to be changes and adjustments, but we have come a long way.
Right now, we are in the process of the following:
- Interviewing Audio, Video, and Lighting (AVL) contractors to discuss ideas and ultimately select a company for each area or possibly one company for all three areas. We have met or spoken with four companies so far and have a few more meetings with additional companies set up for the next couple of weeks.
- Working with two interior designers / decorators for the selection of color schemes, flooring, chairs, etc. Studio Architecture has a designer on staff and we also have Cindy Raby, a designer in our church, helping us. We plan to order our new chairs (all 1,000+) from Bertolini Sanctuary Seating (www.sanctuaryseating.com). The chairs are fantastic! (we have a sample and Bertolini comes highly recommended)
- Constantly keeping an eye on projected costs and endeavoring to strike the right balance between quality and cost.
- Integrating the advice and direction of the engineers into the design. Various engineering firms are heavily involved in the process at this point. A project of this scale involves mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil engineers, as well as various other specialties and experts.
- Finalizing our parking layout, design and count, as well as plans for meeting the City's requirement for rain water planning.
- Etc., etc., etc. (I won't bore you)
We have some updated interior video animation for the new foyer and sanctuary that we may be able to add to the website soon and/or show during one of our services.
At this point, most of the speed of the project is in the hands of the engineers and architects, making it difficult to predict exactly when the project will go out to bid. We do expect that bidding will begin before the end of the year. Assuming no big surprises, we could be in construction within just a few months.
If you have not made a Dream God's Dreams commitment to give toward the building fund, it's not too late. We need to finish strong!
Check back for more updates. Blessings!
